| Register notes : | The period 1844-1847 is covered by just 16 pages which are in a poor state of preservation. From the images it appears that the pages are no longer bound together but have had to be pasted individually onto new backing, and the original order has been lost. Each baptism record spans two pages of the original register, so transcribing a complete record requires matching a right-hand page to a left-hand page. The left-hand pages have the child's name and dates of birth and baptism, while the right-hand pages have the abode, occupation, and parents' signatures. Sometimes only one page of a baptism record survives, and in cases where this was only the right-hand page, I did not transcribe it, because in this case it did not include the child's name or dates. From the surviving information, it is clear that there were at least 109 baptisms in this period, but I was able to transcribe only 66 of them. The earliest date is in March of 1844 for register number 11, but the 10 baptisms before this probably went back at least as far as 1843 and possibly into 1842. The last date is 1847. The next register begins in 1859, so there is a gap between 1847 and 1859, and as far as I know no register has survived from this period. |
