Notes about the Church The ecclesiastical parish of St John was formed in August 1845, from the Walsall Wood and Shelfield detached part of Walsall parish. St John's church in Walsall Wood, which was consecrated on 22nd August 1837 is a plain edifice in the Gothic style and consists of a chancel, nave, aisles, vestry, and an embattled western tower containing a clock and one bell. The chancel, vestry and aisles were added in 1886.
